Jo Anne Henderson, 82, of Crescent City died peacefully at home on Sept. 9, 2017. Jo Anne was born in Glendale to Dr. and Mrs. Robert W. Johnson of San Fernando. She attained her R.N. degree at Napa Valley College and had a successful career at various state hospitals and ultimately at Seaside and Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, the position from which she untimately retired in 1997.
A private memorial service for family and close friends will take place Oct. 7. She will be interred in the Del Norte Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Jo Anne was predeceased by her soulmate, Glen Henderson, whom she married in 1984. Together they enjoyed gardening, growing their own produce, tending their home and investment properties and traveling to Civil War sites and WW II sites in Europe, including Normandy, France.
She will be missed for her loving kindness to friends and family, and most especially for her world-class ability to bake oatmeal cookies and a variety of cakes and pies, a skill she learned from her 19th century Pennsylvania born grandmother, Eva Exora Conner Webb.
Jo Anne is survived by her sister, Karen L. Johnson, her son, Gary A. Rust, daughters Christie Lynn Rust and Sally Anne Rust Campbell, stepsons Grant and Lee Henderson, honorary son Jerry Weiser, spouses, loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her beloved dog Mickey remained loyally by her side during her passing.
