Delicious summer eats: 5 moments to munch on almonds this season

(BPT) - Americans are increasingly enjoying new flavors and textures in our meals and snacks.

Consider how much we love our farm-to-table philosophy, food trucks, tapas restaurants, cooking shows, websites and social media sites devoted to food as experience. In fact, one study found 48 million Americans now identify themselves as foodies.

Almonds, in particular, are enjoying an elevated status among not just gourmands, but all consumers, especially snacking aficionados.

No longer is the slender, delightfully crunchy nut confined to mingling with its less-versatile nut cousins. Thanks to beautifully blended and balanced seasonings, the almond is recognized as a tasty treat treasured by food-lovers around the world. Not only do they pack a major punch in terms of nutrition and health benefits, but their light, unique taste and crunchy texture blend well with a wide range of sweet and savory flavors. Further, almonds are easy to stock in your cupboard, purse, suitcase or glove compartment for retrieval anytime you and/or your friends want a quick, delicious snack or hors d’oeuvres this summer.

Now that summer has finally arrived, here are five suggestions for when to enhance any munching moment with the natural, delicious goodness of almonds:

  • When you’re heading to a summer party. Rule #1: Don’t show up empty-handed. Be the guest with the best and bring Blue Diamond Gourmet Almonds to share. A decadent option like Black Truffle is sure to be a welcomed addition to the host’s cheese board or picnic table buffet, or enjoyed around a bonfire with a glass of rosé.
  • When you’re starving on the job. When your stomach starts rumbling at work, you can’t always leave your workplace to enjoy the summer weather and hunt down a snack. That’s when you can turn to your private stash of Blue Diamond Almonds & Fruit varieties. Take a break from the demands of the day by noshing on a flavorful combination like Sea Salt Almonds & Whole Blueberry without ever leaving your work area.
  • When your friends drop by. No matter how unexpected their arrival, you’ll be prepared if you’re stocked with Blue Diamond Gourmet Almond flavors, such as the deliciously nuanced Rosemary & Sea Salt or Pink Himalayan Salt options. Simply open a few flawlessly seasoned packets, air out a bottle of wine and you’re good to go with both refreshments and conversation.
  • When you’re on a family road trip. Summer is a great time for family vacations, and Blue Diamond Almonds & Fruit can be a hugely satisfying snack for your family in between stops. The Dark Chocolate Almonds & Toasted Coconut flavor is the perfect sweet treat when you’ve been in the car for hours, and Fiery Ghost Pepper Almonds & Tart Cherry packs enough of a kick to get you through the traffic on your way to the beach.
  • End-of-day R&R. Summer is all too short. When you are home unwinding after a long day of summer fun, take time to watch the sunset, enjoy the warm breeze, listen to the crickets and reflect on the best moments of the day before hitting the hay. Evening can be the perfect time to enjoy Sweet Cardamom Almonds & Honeycrisp Apple while snuggled up on the couch, or open a pack of Garlic, Herb & Olive Oil Gourmet Almonds with a glass of wine.

Anytime is a great time to enjoy Blue Diamond Gourmet Almonds and Almonds & Fruit. And when you plan ahead, you can stash away the delicious treats for the moments you’ll enjoy them most this summer.
