I would like to take the opportunity to give my wholehearted support for the re-election of Chris Howard to the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors.

I know firsthand how hard Chris has worked for our community. I am not talking about just the past four years he has been on the board. I am talking about his two decades of service to committees and boards such as chamber of commerce, Fish and Game and the 3Read23.

Chris has been a consistent advocate for our diverse community and especially for our youth as evident for his deep involvement in many projects such as improving literacy in our community (3Read23). Research shows higher literacy can boost the economic and financial success of individuals and the economy as a whole. It can reduce poverty, improve health, lift community engagement and lead to a higher standard of living. His support of these local programs, almost always behind the scenes and often without recognition, has enriched the lives of young people and put them on the path of a better future.

Chris cares deeply about working collaboratively to create a more vibrant healthy, community for this generation as well as future generation so that if others like me want to return to this beautiful place we call home to work and live, they can because there are opportunities right here at home for them.

District 3 is the agricultural hub of our county and Chris understands the issues, opportunities and the challenges our local farmers and ranchers face. This vital economic driver in our community cannot afford to lose Chris’ knowledge and voice, especially now.

I urge everyone to vote for Chris Howard, Del Norte County supervisor. Let’s keep a good thing going.
