Welcome to the 27th annual Sea Cruise, a weekend of celebrating classic cars, good music, food and drink and fun for all.
Sea Cruise is all that and more. Sure, it is Crescent City streets glistening in chrome and candy apple custom paint, the roar of super-tuned engines, the beat of rock, soul, and blues.
But Sea Cruise is also the culmination of months — almost a year — of hard work by scores a dedicated community volunteers.
Planning for this year’s Sea Cruise started in February, according to Sarah Caron, executive director of the Crescent City-Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce. Volunteers do it all.
The chamber board. The Northern Knights Car Club (expect about 300 cars this year). The Downtown Divas, Del Norte Senior Center, the Elks, the sponsors… and the list goes on and on.
From organizing the many popular events — Show & Shine, the car show today, the poker run Sunday — to coordinating music, food, and drink, to checking and double-checking logistics with local public safety folks. Volunteers step up and get the job done.
Sea Cruise is a showcase, a celebration for Del Norters and tourists alike to savor Crescent City and Del Norte County’s many accomplishments, contributions and future possibilities. Add the backdrop of one of the most beautiful places on the face of the planet and, well, you get it.
Smokey Robinson put it this way:
Let the music take your mind
Just release and you will find
You’re gonna fly away, glad your goin’ my way
I love it when we’re cruising together
Have fun. Be safe. Enjoy cruising together and this celebration of our community.
