It is disappointing to see how low Sen. Mike McGuire and his fellow Democrats will stoop in attempting to disenfranchise those to whom they disagree. The state Senate voted 27-10 on a completely party-line vote to deny President Trump the right to be on the California ballot next March. The bill awaits Gov. Gavin Newsom’s signature.

The eligibility requirements to run for president are to be a minimum age of 35, in good standing, and a native-born citizen. President Trump is eminently qualified. Bill co-sponsor McGuire and his misguided colleagues in the Senate voted to ban Trump from the ballot until he surrenders five years of tax returns.

The vote in the Senate is unconstitutional and is nothing more than a political stunt, which will fail in the courts. Mike, you ought to be ashamed of yourself for denying citizens like me the right to choose who we wish to vote for to lead our country.
