I made a mistake and I apologize to all candidates in the Crescent City Harbor District election on Nov. 6.
The Triplicate’s policy regarding letters to the editor and our Coastal Voices Op-Ed is that we do not publish submissions from candidates in active campaigns. Unfortunately, because of my error, we did publish a Coastal Voices on Tuesday from Rick Shepherd, who in addition to being president Crescent City Commercial Fisherman’s Marketing Association and Save the Harbor 2018, is also a candidate for the harbor district commission.
Our policy remains. But to be fair in this instance, we are going to allow any candidate in the harbor district election one letter or Coastal Voices Op-Ed.
As with all submissions pertaining to the Nov. 6 election, they must be received by 5 p.m. Nov. 1 for publication Nov. 3.
We will not publish any submissions regarding election issues on election day, Nov. 6.
Again, my sincere apologies to all the candidates in the harbor district race.
