Former Del Norte High School standout Cody Hoffman is back in the Canadian Football League after sitting out the beginning of the season.

Hoffman, whose records for receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns at Brigham Young University, has recently been picked up by the 2016 Grey Cup champion Ottawa Redblacks. Hoffman got his first action with the Redblacks on July 24 in a 27-24 loss to Toronto. Hoffman had one catch for seven yards.

Hoffman was an undrafted participant in the Washington Redskins training camp in 2014 and signed to play in the CFL with the Montreal Alouettes in 2015.

Hoffman caught six passes for 104 yards and a touchdown before being injured in his second game with the Allouettes. Hoffman was resigned to Montreal’s practice squad in 2016.

Ottawa will be back in action on Friday taking on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, where another former Del Norte great, Buck Pierce, serves as the quarterbacks coach.
