It was a bittersweet Saturday at the Del Norte Golf Course as many of the courses most frequent visitors — members of the Del Norte Men’s Club and the Del Norte Women’s Club — stopped by for one last round of golf and a friendly barbecue.

Debbie Carmona summed up the mood on Saturday saying, “It’s really a sad day. It’s such a part of the community.” Carmona noted that in addition to many rounds of golf played, the course has meant so much to many people that they have had their ashes scattered on the grounds, in addition to several memorial trees planed on the premises. The Del Norte Golf Course officially closed its doors for the last time, at least under the ownership of Elk Valley Racheriea, starting on Sunday.
