Crescent City will co-host two events acknowledging the forty-year anniversary of the film, Return of the Jedi. Much of the iconic 1983 movie was filmed in Del Norte and Humboldt counties.
The Humboldt-Del Norte Film Commission is organizing the Forest Moon Festival taking place June 2-3 that will feature four screenings of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, in both counties.
The film commission will work with the City to offer an outdoor screening at Beachfront Park, Friday evening, June 2 when full night conditions exist. The city will conduct a jedi training course in the park, Saturday June 3.
These events are offered at no charge. Coming Attractions Cinema will be showing Jedi Friday, April 28 at its standard admission charge. Check with the theater for show times.
The request for funding the two-day event was $3000. Councilor Blake Inscore, in expressing his enthusiasm for the celebration, made a motion to increase the funding to $5000, and the vote was 3-0 to approve.
The goal of the event is to motivate visitors to stay for both the film and Saturday’s activities.
