Del Norte County Fair selects theme winner

After receiving more than 200 submissions, the Del Norte County Fair staff have chosen Smith River resident McKenzie Amos’s suggestion for its 2020 theme — “Stampeding into the 20’s at the Del Norte County Fair!”

Fair manager Kim Floyd said staff took in community suggestions over the past month through email or Facebook before settling on the winner.

“A lot of ideas are the same every year. But it isn’t very often we’re going into a new decade, especially the ‘roaring 20s.’ We thought that was great,” Floyd said.

She added fair staff received some other really good suggestions.

“We’ll keep them in case something really stands out and use it if we don’t get something great next year,” Floyd said.

The 2020 Del Norte County Fair is Aug. 6-9.
