The Fred Endert Municipal Pool in Crescent City

The Fred Endert Municipal Swimming Pool in Crescent City will open for recreational swim sessions starting Sat., Dec. 11.

“I completely support our pool and I’m excited that Dr. Stutz is allowing us to reopen the free swim,” said Mayor Jason Greenough.

The pool has continued classes and family recreation swim times in recent months, but free swims sessions remained closed pending approval to open from Dr. Eric Stutz, Del Norte’s public health officer.

Showers and other amenities will also be open to the public, though safety protocols will impact capacity.

According to Alissa Garcia, aquatics supervisor at the facility, instructors will also be allowed to teach from the water as the next set of swim lessons begin.

“Parents will finally have a little bit of relief of not having to get in (the water) as much,” Garcia said.

During the month of December, the staff of Fred Endert pool will also be accepting contributions on behalf of the Community Assistance Network, as well as Del Norte County Animal Control.
