The Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness is offering a variety of arts classes and workshops for veterans, active military and their families. Families may participate whether or not the veteran attends.

Some classes are held online via the meeting platform Zoom and some are held in person. In-person classes will be held at 501 H Street, Crescent City (please park in the lot behind the building). Due to gathering size restrictions, only nine students are allowed to participate in-person at this time, and social distancing with masks is required.

Classes include:

• Beginning Guitar with teaching artist Dale Morgan meeting online via Zoom, Mondays at 5 p.m. July 13 through Aug. 24. 

• Beyond Beginning Guitar with teaching artist Dale Morgan. In-person classes on Tuesdays at 4 p.m., July 14 through Aug. 25. 

• Creative Writing (Short Stories with teaching artist Sharon McKinney, Wednesdays, July 8 through Aug. 26, at 4 p.m., in person class. Class will cover elements of the short story, dialogue, character development, editing, and more. Notebooks and writing utensils provided, or bring your own. 

• Drawing (Pencil)  with teaching artist Sara Broderick, Thursdays, July 9 through Aug. 6, at 4 p.m. in person. Class will culminate in the Veterans Art Show on Aug. 13. Drawing pads and graphite pencils provided, or bring your own.
