After months of detours, Front Street will soon reopen.
The Crescent City City Council will cut a ribbon to open the street at 4 p.m. Tuesday, after which local residents are invited to take part in a drive-through of the repaired road.
City Manager Eric Wier announced last week that construction was nearly finished, and Front Street would open to the public Tuesday. He said after the road is open, a few minor items would still need to be done.
Because of COVID-19 protocols, the public is asked to remain in their vehicles during the ceremony Tuesday. Members of the city council will be socially distanced as they cut the ribbon to reopen the street.
The work on Front Street repaved more than half of the street that runs along Beachfront Park. The city is hoping to get grant funding to repave the remainder of the road in the coming years.
