Josh Ammons, 21, of Crescent City gets comfortable inside a bloodmobile Aug. 14 after donor-care specialist Michelle Fox of Brookings hooks him up to give a pint of blood.

The occasion was the Northern California Community Blood Bank’s drive at the Downtown Crescent City Farmers and Artisans Market on Front and K streets. Ammons said he tries to donate blood at least twice a year.

John Gullum, director of the Eureka-based blood bank, said the bloodmobile makes regular trips to Crescent City, usually once a month to the Walmart store and every two weeks to the Safeway store.

Ten Crescent City residents donated during the current drive, he said. For more information about future events, go to www.nccbb.org. Photo by David Hayes.
