National Night Out invited the Public to meet and greet first responders, enjoy FREE delicious BBQ from Sea Quake and Starbuck’s Coffee.
Participant donors in the annual event included Pelican Bay CDCR, California Highway Patrol, Del Norte Search and Rescue, Crescent City Police Department, Del Norte Sheriff Dept, Cal-Ore Life Flight (REACH Helicopter), Crescent Fire Protection Volunteers, Wal-Mart (bicycle donations), Crescent Electric (Raffle prize donation), Sea Quake ( free BBQ) and Starbucks (free coffee).
National Night Out was founded in 1984 when neighbors began turning on their porch lights and sitting in front of their homes. By 2016, 38 million residents in 16,000 American communities participated in this annual event.
The event is meant to increase awareness about Police programs such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch and other anti-crime efforts.
The event is held the first Tuesday in August.
