In case you missed it, spring is here. Catherine Boeckmann of Farmers Almanac says, “The Vernal Equinox occurred last Monday, March 20, at 2:24PM when the plane of the Sun passed over the equator. At that moment, Spring 2023 began.”
For the last four days the Sun rested above the horizon denoting equal day and night at the South Pole, New Zealand and South Africa to the North Pole, Greenland, Europe and North America.
Spring denotes the move to the Summer Solstice. Daylight day in the Northern Hemisphere is June 21. The exact opposite occurs during the Autumnal equinox September 23, according according to Farmers Almanac ‘s Boeckmann.
Boekmann continues, “There are four seasons because the Earth is tilted 23.5 degrees on its side. For the next six months, Earth’s Northern Hemisphere will face toward the Sun.”
Del Norte County will enjoy longer days (and by association warmer weather) well into late September.
Spring has sprung…Summer awaits.
