The World Health Organization reportedly considers oral health a key indicator of overall health, wellbeing and quality of life.
A tooth infection not only causes pain, it can spread to other teeth, and even lead to bone and gum weakening over time.
Dr. Brice Chang and associates at Brookings Dental Arts said they will provide free dental work to people without insurance during their annual Volunteer Day.
This year, Volunteer Day will be held from 7-11 a.m. Nov. 7 at 315 Pacific Ave. Procedures will be limited to tooth extractions and, time permitting, fillings.
People without insurance will be treated on a first-come, first-served basis, and be prioritized based on the severity of their situation, in particular, people in pain.
Volunteer Day is open to residents of Brookings, Gold Beach and Crescent City.
For years, Brookings Dental Arts provided pro bono dental work to people in need that were referred to the clinic. To be able to reach even more people, Dr. Brice Chang held the first Volunteer Day in 2015. To date, the clinic has provided more than $24,000 in free dental work through its annual Volunteer Day.
