Thirteen was the lucky number for the Del Norte Trail Alliance, as all 13 volunteers felt lucky to be out in the fog and drizzle that best highlights the beauty of the coastal forest.
Six riders shuttled to the Damnation Creek trailhead and cleared logs, brush and debris heading north on the soggy but inspiring trail, while seven hikers did the same, climbing the hill heading south.
They all enjoyed the work and feeling of accomplishment, and of course the conversation, the stories, questions about old highway 199 that we followed, the what if’s of potential trails.
Join the party next month as the alliance journeys up the Paradise and Little Bald Hills trails amongst blooming flowers and the scent of Azaleas everywhere, and views of the river and mountain.
