During Board comments of last week’s Supervisors’ Meeting, 5th District Supervisor Dean Wilson announced Del Norte Ambulance (DNAMB) will be staffing a full-time 24/7 emergency medical unit in Klamath, in the next 45 days.
Ron Sander, principal of DNAMB told The Triplicate, the unit will be permanently stationed in Klamath, and will ameliorate the 45 minute one-way drive from Crescent City, during the critical life-saving moments following an emergency.
Wilson stated the shift would be for just eight hours but in checking with Sandler, he clarified the unit would be ready to serve 24 hours, seven days per week from Klamath and serve northern Humboldt county, if requested.
The news is very hopeful to the small but active population, 25 miles south of Crescent City. The deployment of the inaugural service is scheduled for mid-May.
