Four senior staff and Supervisor Valerie Starkey were recognized by California Counties Foundation chief operating officer Paul Dancyk for the completion of the California County Senior Executive Credential program.
Those recognized at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting were Toni Self, administrative services manager, Jacqueline Roberts, interim county counsel, Randy Hooper, assistant county administrative officer, and 2nd District Supervisor Valerie Starkey.
Dancyk congratulated the quartet and followed with an update to supervisors on the CSAC grants initiative program. His presentation focused on how California rural counties can successfully apply for both state and federal grants, despite limited dedicated staff.
The Advanced Counties credential program was established in 2008 by the California Association of Counties Administrator William “Bill” Chiat. CSAC started the Institute in Excellence 16 years ago and has produced some 1,500 graduates since its founding.
The Institute in Excellence is named in memory of Chiat who passed away in 2020.
