The alert Crescent City Police Department (CCPD) and K9 Zuko stopped a Crescent City man for what appeared to be a routine traffic stop.
In the late evening, 44 year old Chas Rylee was pulled over for running a red light.
K9 Sergeant Murtaugh sensed something was aray and dispatched Zuko for a sniff-around. Voila! Zuko caught the odor of drugs.
Sgt. Murtaugh conducted a search of Rylee’s vehicle and found drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine and prescription pills devoid of Rylee’s name. Also discovered two loaded weapons, a hand gun and rifle.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Del Norte County Jail for carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle.
