Crescent Fire Protection District commissioners began a discussion on what to do with the vacant Cooper Avenue fire station, located at 500 East Cooper.
CFPD Chairman James Nelson brought his colleagues up to date by stating the building itself is 4,200 square feet with an adjacent vacant lot. The building has long served the community for well over a half a century, but it has long stood vacant and unused.
The building is located in the commercial district of Crescent City.
Should commissioners decide to sell Cooper Station, commissioners have indicated an interest in establishing a satellite station north of the current location.
The CFPD Board plans to consider selling the building at its Monday, May 8, meeting at 5 p.m., at 255 W. Washington Blvd.
