Del Norters thought Williams Drive was out-of-contol aflame, the site of a huge fire, last Tuesday and Saturday evenings.
The Fire was actually a training exercise conducted by Crescent City Fire and Rescue, demolishing the ramshackle Mental Health building. The two day exercise and debris removal clears the way for construction of the, as yet, unnamed homeless shelter.
Fire Chief Kevin Carey recognized partners and participants in the Training, including Klamath Fire, Ft. Dick Fire and Harbor (Oregon) Fire. The Training included:
• Live Fire Flashover Training
• Live Fire Offensive Strategy
• Roof Ventilation Training
• Defensive Fire Operations
Fire Chief Carey called the Training Exercise very successful and provided fire explorers logistic experience.
Cal Fire covered all emergency calls for the two day event. After the debris is removed, the Dept of Health and Human Services will begin to construct the, as yet, unnamed homeless shelter.
