In separate actions, the Crescent Fire Protection District and the City purchased 50 state-of-the art Kenwood two-way radios and 14 thermal imagers. The cost of the radios and imagers will be split 50/50 between the CFPD and the City. The cost to each governance is approximately $45,500.
CFPD Chief Kevin Carey broke down the costs of $37,500 for the radios and $7,500 for the thermal imagers. The pricing was set to rise 10%;on Feb. 1. The order to purchase was placed January 31, before Noon.
The City approved its share of the radios and imagers Tuesday evening in a Special Meeting of the Measure S Oversight Committee at the Waste Water Treatment conference room. The CFPD approved its allocation, last Friday.
All costs include programming the radios, required cables, chargers, batteries and all related accessories.

The Measure S Oversight Commiittee also gave direction to the City allocating $600,000,per year for roads repairs. The City anticipates approximately $2.25 million in added revenue as a result of the 13 percent increase voters approved, in retaining the 8.25 sales tax.
