Del Norte Ambulance (DNAMB) presented its annual report 2025 to the Del Norte County Board of Supervisors, this past May.
Each year, during Emergency Medical Services Week, DNAMB principal/ president Ron Sandler updates supervisors on its services.
Last year, DNAMB handled 5,123 calls for service, logged 177,129 miles and expended 32,784 unit hours.
A brand new $265,000 ambulance equipped with a Stryker Power-Pro 2, powered Ambulance cot will be delivered soon.
A new power gurney protecting crewmembers from lifting injuries is on order.
DNAMB has achieved a 98.3 percent Overall Satisfaction score from consumers who’ve experienced DNAMB.
Del Norte Ambulance has an AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locator) system that tracks vehicle location.
DNAMB maintains the Continuous Quality Improvement program (CQI) and employs Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics in its quest for the very highest standards of clinical care.
Sandler reported 2023-2024 blood sugar suspected strokes with successful paramedic interventions:
• January: 12 cases
• February: 3 cases
• March: 8 cases
Auditors report 100 percent compliance across all three months. The compliance demonstrates consistent adherence to the blood sugar check protocol for stroke patients during this period.
• Utilize the 12-lead electrocardiogram for useful diagnostic testing. The testing allows paramedics to view the rhythm of the heart and blood flow to the cardiac muscle.
Recruitment and retention remains a national, statewide and local challenge. Del Norte Ambulance has re-doubled to recruit and retain the best EMTs available.
• Enrollees in Del Norte Ambulance Explorer’s Post is the highest in DNAMB history.
• Of six scholarship recipients for EMT School, four have completed their courses and two are preparing to test.
• Sandler reports four EMTs are at varying stages of paramedic training
DNAMB maintains the highest level of working relationships with Dept. of Health and Human Services, Sutter Coast Hospital and its soon-to-be EmPath unit and the Del Norte Sheriff’s Office, according to Sandler.
