Del Norte County Awarded Grant to Expand Internet Access

Last week, the California Public Utilities Commission awarded Del Norte County $4.8 million to expand internet access. The funding is part of the $2 billion Last Mile Federal Funding Account Grant Program which aims to enhance internet connectivity in undeserved and unserved  communities across the Golden State.

The latest round of funding includes recommendations for $174.4 million in broadband infrastructure five northern counties, including Del Norte.

Grants have also been awarded to the Tolowa Dee-ni’ Nation, Karuk Tribe and the Yurok Telecommunications Corporation.
