Supervising Deputy Probation Officer (SDPO) for Del Norte Juvenile Justice Unit, Emily Johnson has been honored as the North Region Employee of the Year at the 2024 Annual Chief Probation Officers of California (CPOC) Awards Ceremony. Deputy Johnson was recognized for her profound impact on her team and her dedication to helping young people overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
Chief Probation Officer Lonnie Reyman praised Johnson saying, “ Emily’s exceptional work ethic and ability to rise above challenges is inspirational.” Reyman nominated Johnson for the recognition.
Since stepping into her supervisory roll in May of 2020, SDPO Johnson has consistently demonstrated the highest commitment to the young folks and community in Del Norte. In 2022-23, Johnson faced daunting challenges when her unit was short-staffed, where she acted alone, handling all juvenile Probation services. Duties included managing all reports, case management, child and family team meetings and court proceedings for some 50 youths.
