Strong start

The Del Norte Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution invited the community to learn about Wreaths Across America over the Independence Day weekend.

Del Norte Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution sends thanks and appreciation to every person who supported the Independence Day weekend kick-off sponsorship venture for Wreaths Across America.

Those who sponsored wreaths, those who stopped by to inquire about the project, those who checked out the display and everyone who spoke, smiled and said words of appreciation, Del Norte DAR extends heartfelt thanks to each one. Thanks also to Safeway Management, and the local media, printed and on-the-air, for publicity support.

Wreaths Across America is a nationwide endeavor to see that every veteran is honored and remembered for their service to our country and to teach and inform the public of all ages, what it means to serve in our military and defend our nation.  The wreaths are made from fresh balsa fir in Maine; shipped cross-country by volunteer truckers, with stops at veterans' cemeteries from coast to coast; then ceremoniously placed on veterans' gravesites in mid-December each year. The wreaths remain in place for at least 30 days over the holiday season.
