Elk Valley Casino patrons donate to the Del Norte Child Care Council

Elk Valley Casino customers came together this last quarter to donate a total of $1,811.21 to the Del Norte Child Care Council.

“The Del Norte Child Care Council would like to thank Elk Valley Casino for their generous donation of $1,800 to the Wonder Bus. This donation will be used to enhance the Wonder Bus and provide free books to children in Del Norte. Thank you for joining us in our mission of encouraging the healthy growth, education, care and development of children in Del Norte County,” said Sarah Campbell, resource and referral director for the Del Norte Child Care Council.

Elk Valley Casino maintains several donation boxes around the casino where customers can donate to the non-profit of the quarter usually in the form of change tickets. Elk Valley Casino employees gather and track the progress throughout the quarter, and then donate the combined amount at the end of the quarter.

According to the council’s website the mission of the Wonder Bus is to: “Travel throughout Del Norte County to develop learning partnerships with the parents and caregivers of all children—especially those ages 0-5, whose brains are growing so fast. The Wonder Bus provides story time, songs, finger play, crafts, games, and toys—all in support of early literacy and school readiness.”
