Escaped inmate captured in Medford, Oregon

A man who escaped from the Del Norte County Jail on June 12 has been recaptured.

According to the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, Robert Thornley was recaptured Aug. 14 by the combined efforts of the U.S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force in Medford, Oregon, and the Carson City Police Department.

Thornley was reported to be wearing a wig and living under an alias, supported by what appeared to be valid state identification.

Thornley was in custody at the DNSO jail for charges related drug offenses, resisting arrest, residential burglary and outstanding warrants for illegal possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.

Thornley, who was assigned to work in the DNSO jail laundry detail, was believed to have secured a change of clothes and posed as a maintenance worker, walking away from the jail.
