Former Del Norte AD faces new charges

Former Del Norte USD athletic director Jay Reese is facing additional charges following his arrest earlier this month for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Grants Pass, Ore.

When Reese was arrested Feb. 2 in Grants Pass, a search was granted to allow officers to search Reece’s cell phone.

During the search, two images were located consistent with child sexual exploitation.

One image depicted a toddler-aged female and one depicted a prepubescent female. Both images included an unknown man sub

jecting the children to sexual acts.

Based on the findings, Reese now faces additional two charges of encouraging child sexual abuse.

On Feb. 9, the case was presented to the Josephine County grand jury in Oregon, and Reese was indicted on the following charges:

•    Sexual Abuse in the Second Degree (three counts)

•    Encouraging Child Sexual Abuse in the First Degree (two counts)

No charges have been linked to his time in Del Norte County, but the school district has asked anyone with concerns of information to contact the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety at 541-450-6260.
