The window of opportunity to stripe Front Street quickly arrived, dry weather prevailed and City contractors expediently seized the opportunity and commenced to painting all the road markings.
City Staff were up bright and early, 8:30 Tuesday morning January 30th to cut the proverbial ribbon and voila! Front Street was now open to through traffic.
Mayor Blake Inscore and Councilor Kelly Schellong were on hand to formally dedicate the newly refurbished road. Schellong thanked the public for its patience and support in fixing the iconic road. Mayor Blake Inscore recognized the multi-partnets who contributed to this project.
The Mayor shared his vision of increasing City revenue and hopes to ween the City off of its dependent grants and into self-sufficiency. Measure S Chairman Ernie Perry was also on hand for the dedication. City Manager Eric Wier remarked without the Measure S quarter-cent sales tax support, this road project would not have happened.
Landscaping of the new Front Street is planned this week.
In late Spring, the City will complete Front St from Play Drive to 101.
There’s a four-way stop at Stamps Way / G Street and Front Street.
