At the Tuesday last Board of Supervisors meeting, George Pettit was honored for his lifetime service to Del Norte County.
Pettit gave four decades of service to the Del Norte County Mountain Rescue Team (Del Norte Search and Rescue), volunteer firefighter for over 50 years and irreplaceable asset for the Battery Point Lighthouse.
Pettit’s knowledge of tracking, swift water Rescue and knowledge of the Del Norte backcountry has proven his place as a well-respected asset in this community.
George has retired from official volunteering capacity however he will no doubt stay active in many areas f need including his recognized service to and for the Battery Point Lighthouse.
