The two suspects accused in a series of felonies involving an explosion of illegal fireworks on South Beach July 4th evening, have been arraigned in Del Norte Superior Court, Judge Robert Cochran presiding
Levi Mills,33 and Megan Warner,32 both from Crescent were charged with possession of illegal explosives, selling illegal fireworks, Willful Cruelty to a Child, Use of Unclassed Fireworks, Possession of Fireworks without a Permit, Discharge of Fireworks: likely to Injure.
Mills and Warner were assigned separate public defenders by Judge Cochran, after each declared they were unable to afford private counsel.
14 victims were located and transported to Sutter Coast Hospital. Seriously harmed was three year old William Lupan ( Baby Billy) who was transferred to pediatric intensive care in Portland where medical staff over several weeks, saved the toddler’s life. The Lupan family reports Baby B has been medically discharged and is slowly recovering while being treated for skin, lung and back injuries.
Both Mills and Warner are due back in Court Tuesday. September 17, 1:30pm in Dept Two.
