Monday, February 5, 2nd District State Senator Mike McGuire was sworn in as President pro Tempore of the California State Senate.
McGuire represents California’s North Coast, including Del Norte County.
After taking his Oath, McGuire thanked first responders helping Californians up and down the state, facing the worst storm of the
year.
Surrounded by Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas and Gov. Gavin Newsom, McGuire reflected on his humble background, growing up in rural California. “ Never in a million years did I dream that a kid like me could be in this position.” McGuire of Healdsburg espoused his calling in life is to help others. He vowed to work together, irrespective of party affiliation.
The Democrat leader will preside of the 40 member Senate.
