The three newest members of the Crescent City Harbor District (CCHD) spoke clearly and united when the trio rejected a motion to approve a $7,000 contribution to the Del Norte Visitors Bureau. At a Special Meeting scheduled prior to the regular meeting, a motion made by Commissioner Rick Shepherd and seconded by Harbor Chairman Gerhard Weber, the was defeated 2-3 to reject the payment for fiscal reasons. The trio of Vice Chair Annie Nehmer, Secretary Commissioner John Evans and Commissioner Dan Schmidt lamented “...until the Harbor has a clearer vision of its questionable financial condition, we, individually will vote NO on the contribution.
Each commissioner voiced unequivocal support in sending the funds to the Visitor’s Bureau but concurred its support should be discussed after new commissioners acquire a better understanding of the dire fiscal conditions surrounding the CCHD.
