Once Iconic market destroyed by fire

Saturday, January 21 during the early morning, units from the Crescent Fire Protection District fought a stubborn seven hour blaze of the long-vacant mini shopping center located along the 3100 Parkway Drive,  just south of the 199.

Longtime neighbor Ron Kunstal reflected on a half-century of memories of what was once the Serudies and then the Benson Market/ beauty shop and ultimately vacant building. The source of the blaze is unknown but the property has long been a site for transient occupancy.  Two fire units from the Crescent Fire Protection District knocked down the blaze. What remains is the ruins’ debris.

Code Enforcement is in process of directing the property owner to remove the ruins.
