Rehabilitation, Marking and Lighting upgrade of Runway 18-36 at the Del Norte County Regional Airport is set to commence June 2.
The Border Coast Regional Airport Authority (BCRAA) announces the commencement of the rehabilitation of the Runway at CEC, Crescent City.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) awarded a $7.260M in Airport Improvement Program ( AIP) to BCRAA, last August to facilitate the infrastructure upgrade. Tidewater Contractors will perform the improvements under the supervision of the FAA NV/WHPacific ensuring the project adheres to the highest safety and quality standards.
The project includes:
• Runway Rehabilitation (Mill and Overlay, a smoother more durable surface, reducing maintenance needs and enhancing aircraft operations.
• LED MIRL (Medium Intensity Runway Lighting) upgrade with energy efficient LED lighting, reducing energy costs and maintenance credited to longer lifespan from LED fixtures.
• Updated Runway Markings to meet FAA standards.
Airport Director Ryan Cooley shared, “We are thrilled to begin this essential project, which reflects our ongoing dedication to airport safety and community connectivity. Thanks to the support of the FAA and expertise of Tidewater Contractors ND NV5/WHPacific, this project will significantly improve the functionality and reliability of Jack McNamara Field for years to come.”
The improvements will complete by August 16.
