Sutter Coast Hospital Chief Executive Officer Mitch Hanna is stepping down after serving an illustrious three-decade career in healthcare administration.
Hanna served in the dual CEO capacity of both Sutter Coast and Sutter Auburn Faith Hospitals. An attorney, after beginning his career in health administration in 1986 in Modesto, Hanna later became assistant general counsel. In 1999. Hanna later became CEO of Sutter Coast Hospital and Sutter Auburn Faith.
Under his leadership, Hanna accepted the reins and led his team in Crescent City in:
• Opening a 10-bed Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Center,
• Opening of the Sutter Coast Infusion Center,
• Development of a Dialysis Center on the SCH campus,
• Opened a hospice service,
• Significant expansion of healthcare services in Brookings, including an Imaging Center, outpatient therapy services and a broad representation of specialty coverage.
• The ongoing care and guidance through the COVID-19 pandemic, even while navigating its impacts on the healthcare workers.
Hanna will work in transition with interim CEO Dan Peterson through the month of December.
Hanna reaped huge praise on his colleagues and staff with whom he has worked.

Sutter Health will begin the recruitment of a permanent CEO for both hospitals, effective immediately.
