The Redwood Coast Conservancy partnered up with Smith River Alliance to recognize the 40th Annual California Coastal Cleanup event, this past week-end
Autumn Subers and Kyle Buchanan of the Conservancy and co-Director Grant Werschkull of Smith River Alliance helped organize the event and welcomed about 25 volunteers at Crescent Beach. The City sent several staff who helped clean up Elk Creek Estuary, on their own time.
Redwood Coast Conservancy Executive Director Sal Munoz shared his appreciation with the volunteers for their stalwart dedication to keep the Del Norte coastline litter-free.
The Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority and Recology waived all dump fees for the project.
Cal Trans also assisted by picking up bags of collected trash.
Smith River Alliance announced 1,280 pounds of trash was picked up this past Saturday at California Coastal Cleanup Day Del Norte.
