On April 2, late in the evening, Del Norte Sheriff ‘s deputies patrolling the Smith River observed a suspicious vehicle in the area south of Indian Rd, near the How-On-Quer cemetery. Deputies contacted Haley Abbot, 31 and Joshua Toomey, both from Brookings. While contacting both subjects, deputies gathered probable cause to search a vehicle. During the search, deputies locates a loaded.22 caliber revolver, 35.1 grams of Fentanyl (1.2 ounces) suspected methamphetamine, a scale and packaging materials. Abbott was taken into custody for PC 25850 (a) carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. Toomey was taken into custody on HS 11351 possession of controlled substances for sales and HS11352, transport of controlled substances.
