A new storm system approaching from the Pacific Ocean is expected to arrive this weekend. The National Weather Service says this system will produce cold temperatures and rain along the coast, more snowfall in the mountains and some areas will see high winds.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Watch in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening for Del Norte Interior, Southwestern Humboldt, Northern Humboldt Interior, Southern Humboldt Interior, Northern Trinity, Southern Trinity, Northwestern Mendocino Interior, Northeastern Mendocino Interior and Southwestern Mendocino Interior counties.
WHAT
Southeast winds 20 to 40 mph with gusts from 60 to 70 mph possible.
WHERE
Portions of northwest California, including terrain gaps, exposed coastal areas, and exposed ridges.
WHEN
From Saturday morning through Saturday evening.
IMPACTS
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
