It’s  official. Del Norte County Elections Clerk Alissia Northrup has certified the election and administered the oath of office Tuesday to now-Fifth District Supervisor Dean Wilson.

Wilson took his oath earlier than anticipated because his election was a special election to fill the remainder of the Bob Berkowitz term.  

Berkowitz passed away  several months ago.

Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed Susan Masten to fill the Berkowitz vacancy.

Wilson defeated Masten by a margin of 53.4 to 46.6 percent.

Other now-official results:

In the District Four Supervisor race, Joey Borges defeated Patty Adams 55 to 45 percent.

For the Del Norte Unified School District. Abbie Crist in District Two and Michael Greer in District Five were officially elected.

For Crescent City Harbor, incumbents Rick Shepherd and Gerhard Weber will return to office.

Jared Huffman was re-elected to his sixth term in Congress (Ca-2). Mike McGuire and Jim Wood were re-elected to District Two State Senate and Assembly, respectively.

Voters overwhelmingly defeated the repeal of sales tax increases Measure T (City), 78 to 22% Measure U (County) 68 to 32 percent.

A total of 8,450 (56.24 percent) ballots were cast in Del Norte.
