Caltrans reopens Highway 199

U.S. Route 199 in Del Norte County has reopened to two-way traffic at Gasquet and extending into Oregon.

Caltrans District 1 officials said on their Facebook page this area remains an active fire zone with fire crews on site. Prepare for possible delays as fire conditions are ever changing.

Future short-term closures are planned to safely accommodate fire mitigation efforts.
