Local voters weigh in on statewide propositions

In addition to local races, California had several state measures proposed before the voters.

Del Norte County voters went against the grain on four issues, including Proposition 17 that restores felons’ right to vote after completing their prison term, Proposition 19 that changes certain property tax rules and Proposition 24 that amends consumer privacy laws.

According to the Secretary of State’s office, election results are updated as often as new data is received from county elections officials after the polls close at 8 p.m. on election day. Many ballots are not counted on election day; county elections officials must report final official results for presidential electors to the Secretary of State by Dec. 1 and all other state contests by Dec. 4. Results will be certified by Dec. 11.
