Inmate escapes from Del Norte County jail

A man in jail since May 5 escaped from the Del Norte County Jail on June 12, according to a report posted on Facebook by the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office.

Robert Thornley was assigned to work in the jail laundry and is believed to have secured a change of clothes and posed as a maintenance worker, walking away from the jail.

His escape was reported at about 3 p.m.

Thornley is a 30 year old white male. He stands about 5'11 and weighs about 150 pounds. He is balding with brown hair and blue eyes. He was in custody for charges related drug offenses, resisting arrest, residential burglary and outstanding warrants for illegal possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property.He has been known to alter his appearance in the past by wearing wigs.
