Ardetta Jean Owen

 On Friday, May 15, 2020, Ardetta Jean Owen, loving wife and mother to four children, passed away at the age of 74. Ardetta, known to her friends as De and to her family as Detta, was born October 7, 1945 in Centralia Washington to Gene and Iola Buzzard.

Ardetta lived in various locations throughout her life but considered her home to be Crescent City. She loved the raw beauty that the Redwoods and the Ocean offered. During her life, Ardetta held numerous job titles including waitress, cage cashier, and even lumberjack. Of all the titles Ardetta held, being a Mother and Grandmother were the ones she wore best.

Ardetta is preceded in death by two sons, Philip and Terry Powell, her Mother, Iola Giles and sister, Judy. Ardetta is survived by her Husband, Gerald Owen, Sister, Deborah Sequeira, Daughter, DeAnn Sharp and Son Kenneth Zosel. Ardetta is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Ardetta was a God-fearing woman, who dedicated many years of her younger life to teaching Sunday school. She was the pillar of strength to her family keeping family traditions alive through the years. Detta loved to cook, color, spend time with her family and enjoyed watching sunrises and sunsets. Ardetta was a selfless woman who chose to see the best in people, often being the guiding light for those whom she met that were lost.

Detta will always be loved, will be missed forever, and will live on through the legacy that she ingrained in those whose lives she touched.
