Carolyn Mae DeVol passed away on Dec. 10, 2019 after a long battle with COPD. Carolyn was born Dec. 12, 1942 in San Luis Obispo. She was home with her husband and daughter where she wanted to be when she left this world. We all know her daughter Mary was waiting to greet her with open arms and a big smile and a “ welcome home momma”.
Carolyn will always be remembered for her heartwarming smile and bright blue eyes that would light up room. She worked hard from the day she could make her own clothes.
Carolyn moved to Klamath in 1951. She loved to tell stories of the 1955 and 1964 floods. Carolyn worked for Tony Ramos in the Klamath for many years.
Carolyn married Don DeVol in 1974. They spent the first part of their marriage managing Cottonwood Cove Resort on Lake Mojave. As a family we would explore all aspects of the desert beauty and go camping by boat along Lake Mojave. Some of our best memories are of all the time spent at Panther Creek RV Resort. Don and Carolyn owned it from 1975 to 2010. Campfires, Sunday pancake breakfasts to bingo and just a lot of hard work. Then there was Don’s Gas and Hardware where we all spent so many great years. Carolyn loved visiting with everyone, locals and tourist alike. Oh, how she missed seeing all the people when we sold it. Carolyn was a fighter and will always be remembered for the strong woman she was.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father and mother, Paul and Helen Jones, her daughter Mary Wheat. 2 Uncle’s in WW2 on the Arizona, where they remain to this day.
Carolyn leaves behind her dear husband of 43 years, Don DeVol. Brothers Bill “Jeepers” Jones, wife Michelle, Frank, Mike Jones, wife Jeanian. Sons Shane Thomas, wife Cherie and Doug DeVol. Daughters Sheila DeVol and Kathy DeVol Cunningham, daughter in law Michelle and husband Troy, son in law Mike Wheat.
