Frances “Marian” Miller

Francis Marian Miller, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother of Crescent City, California passed while in Sutter Health Hospital in San Francisco on March 1st, her 87th Birthday. Francis, known to her family and friends as “Marian,” was born March 1, 1934 in Oak Grove Louisiana as the third of seven children to Walter and L.V. Cooper.

Marian and her family moved from Louisiana to Arizona when she was a young teenager. She met Valdon, her husband of 69 years, in Winslow Arizona and they married on Christmas Day, 1951. They moved to Crescent City shortly after getting married, where their four children were born.

As they raised their children in Crescent City, Marian helped Valdon run their family business and enjoyed gardening and jigsaw puzzles. Over the years, she always made time to offer encouragement, prepare a meal, or find other ways such as Facebook to keep up with and support family and friends. She worked as a volunteer for numerous organizations.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (Charles & James “Larry” Cooper), daughter (Vicki Miller) and granddaughter (Amanda Bigham).

Marian is survived by her husband Valdon; siblings Luene Williams, Myrtle Spear, Walter “Sonny” Cooper (Sharon), and Martha “Denise” Cooper; children Debra “Debbie” Bolman (Steve), Valdon “Butch” Miller and Darla Bigham (Randy); grandchildren, Darla Miller, Brian Miller, Shawn Bigham (Candice) and Zane Bolman; eight great-grandchildren Charles “Charlie” May, Kadence Miller, Mersadies “Sadie” McDougall, Anika McDougall, Ian McDougall, Marlie Bigham, Ellis Bigham and Hayden Bigham; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Her service will be held on June 12, 11 am at Pelican Bay Evangelical Free Church, 160 Blueberry Lane, Crescent City, CA. There will be a private family service following at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery on Cooper Avenue in Crescent City. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to please send a donation to Our Daily Bread Ministries in Crescent City; Del Norte County Veteran’s Service at 810 H Street, Crescent City; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Deceased’s Funeral Arrangements - June 12, 11:00 AM at Pelican Bay Evangelical Free Church, 160 Blueberry Lane, Crescent City, CA. There will be a private family service following at the IOOF Memorial Cemetery on Cooper Avenue in Crescent City.
