Sara Mae Twigg

Sara Mae Twigg, 94, passed away in Burlingame, CA on December 26, 2019.  She was born in Crescent City, CA on July 2, 1925. She attended Humboldt State University and graduated from San Jose State as an occupational therapist.  Sara was employed at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles and San Francisco UC Medical Center for cerebral palsy children.  She went to San Francisco State for a teaching degree and worked at Hillsboro School District and San Bruno School District.  Sara later became a special education teacher.  She taught for 45 years and retired at the age 80 from teaching.

Sara loved teaching children, animals gardening, bonsai trees and doing art work and  painting.  She also enjoyed traveling the world.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Twigg, brother Taylor Westbrook and her parents Francis & Clarence Westbrook.

Sara leaves behind her son Robert Twigg, nieces Deborah Westbrook, Cindy Hoffman, Jonnie Cohen, nephew James Tomasini.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at 1:00 pm at the Smith River District Cemetery, Smith River, CA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wier’s Mortuary Chapel.
